With the completion of LIFE ClimaMED, the project moves from demonstration towards long-term operational use. The After-LIFE Plan sets out how the technologies, methodologies, digital infrastructure and institutional cooperation developed by the project will be maintained, expanded and transferred beyond the LIFE funding period.
A central element is the continuation of the integrated LiDAR–LoRa–CMM system, combining field-based greenhouse-gas measurements, telemetry and the Center for GHGs Monitoring and Management platform. In Greece, the project’s infrastructure is already connected to the national framework established through Law 5184/2025, creating a pathway from pilot implementation to policy-driven deployment.
The plan foresees progressive deployment of additional monitoring units, maintenance and recalibration routines, continued cloud-based monitoring, and long-term technical support. It also identifies opportunities for integration with CAP eco-schemes, Monitoring–Reporting–Verification systems, national greenhouse-gas inventories, sustainability certification and carbon-farming frameworks.
Beyond Greece, the project results have strong replication potential across Mediterranean agricultural regions. The roadmap envisages a phased expansion from institutional preparation and pilot integration to wider operational deployment and, in the longer term, integration into national and European climate-monitoring frameworks.
The project website, CMM platform, multimedia training environment and scientific and institutional networks will continue to support dissemination, training and future adoption of the LIFE ClimaMED approach.
